Here is some food for thought about being online and whether or not this is beneficial. If you use your phone almost constantly maybe take a day off every once and a while to enjoy the real world. :) Forty-five percent of teens are online ‘almost constantly’

Look, nobody likes to fail -- that isn't really a goal people have when the set out, but in the real world (and probably even more so in the theoretical one) people fail all the time. The idea that you can go through life being "perfect" (if that is defined as not ever failing) is both unrealistic and impossible. Failing (however you define that), learning from the experience and then moving on is a critically important part of life. In reality you are already a perfect you. Take intellectual risks-- be willing to get rejected. If something doesn't go according to plan, revise the plan and move on wiser than you were before. The link says what I'm trying to say far more elegantly: On Campus, Failure Is on the SyllabusWell, it's after Spring break -- the AP test is looming large. Don't be shy about coming to talk with me at any point if you are wanting additional help or have questions about how to plan your approach to the final preparations. On a "History is Relevant" note, I came across this speech and found it interesting. There are a lot of connections to our post World War II discussions that I think are echoed here. If you have time you should check out the first 15 minutes or so.
I know it seems like a long way off, but just to make sure everyone is prepared -- MAY 16th will be the last day for any late work from Semester 2 for work related to the AP exam and AP EURO curriculum. Please plan accordingly.
How's it goin' AP Euro students? Sort of a good-news, bad-news thing here... the calendar is updated with information about Exam #5 (the Thursday prior to Spring Break) and the two part FINAL exam on May 2nd and May 4th. Make note of it!
We are getting close to the AP test and the end of the year so, stay strong. We are getting close to the end! Keep up the good work -- there is light at the end of the tunnel. Sorry I have not posted here in a while -- does anyone read this space anyway? :) At any rate, I should be done with the most recent LEQ exam in a few more days -- after that we have basically one more DBQ exam and then the Final Exam prior to the AP test. The LEQ's overall are excellent.
Somehow the semester is almost over -- that went by fast! At any rate, MONDAY JANUARY 22nd will be the LAST DAY to turn in any missing work from Semester 1. Plan accordingly.
So far this has been a great year -- I am really enjoying it and I hope you are as well. Enjoy some much deserved time off and I will see you all in the new year -- let's hear it for 2018! P.S. The truth is out there.... The government admits it studies UFOs. So about those Area 51 conspiracy theories …Happy Thanksgiving -- I think we will make it (or do I really mean I think I will make it?). I hope everyone enjoys some much needed rest, time to eat too much and lounge around (I know I will!). The article below is from today, but tied in well with our discussion last week about tolerance and a number of the ideas that came up. Enjoy.
