Exam #1 grades are on the books -- there are still a few make-ups pending so they will be handed back next week. The curve was fairly hefty...but overall the performance was good for the first exam.

This article is from today's New York Times -- it made me think a bit about what some of my students are going through these days, and I must say I have indeed noticed more anxiety in recent years. Sharing this article is just one small gesture for this very real situation; I am always willing to help more in whatever way I can.

Ken Burns (a giant in the documentary world) is out with a new 18 hour (yes its 18 hours long...that isn't a typo) documentary about the Vietnam War so if you have been looking for ways to procrastinate you should be covered for a while. More info here.
